Gyms And Fitness Clubs
Thursday, March 27th, 2008 by Carol   Subscribe To Our FeedIf you are serious about getting fit then it is often preferable to do this a gym or fitness club as having other people around you can be a great motivator. Anyone can join a club, it’s easy, you just walk in and pay them but choosing the right one also means that you have to think about what it is you need that club to give you in return. However, there are matters to think about in regard to the type of gym you need to look for before you join the gym of your choice.
Not to be dismissed as a minor pint should be where the club is located, if it is not close to your place of work or home you will quickly find reasons not to go. All physical fitness instructors have to be qualified before they can teach but make sure you are happy with his or her qualifications and experience.
If you have particular requirements, your instructor needs to know, this will ensure they are fully qualified to teach you. It is easy to forget that sometimes the staff might not actually care about your custom so it is worth testing them on what they know about the services on offer and how they feel about their work.
Increasing numbers of clubs have specialists who work certain days or are resident such as physiotherapists and nutritionists for instance. Often it is the opening times of these clubs that let them down and he standard range of programs is not varied enough to suit most peoples needs.
If you have specific classes in mind, make sure they have them before you join and preferably that they have more than one per week. At peak periods in many clubs you can find yourself waiting to use the equipment so satisfy yourself that there is a sufficient number of machines for even busy times.
The sign of a good fitness club is well maintained machines so look to see if there are any that are not working and if there are, try to find out how long they have been that way. Many clubs have a good social calendar which is worth noting and attending to get to know a few people who are members that may be able to help you with your training in the future.
Checking the cost of membership is probably the last thing you need to do but you also need to find out if they increase it regularly every year and if there are any other costs they haven’t told you about. Visit more than one fitness club; make up a list, preferably at least three to take a look at, perhaps at different price levels as it will be worth your while to see what’s available.
Take your time, there is no hurry and be wary of clubs that continue to contact you about membership as there is a fine line between a courtesy approach and pestering.
